A bit about us…
Co-owners, Michael and Kathleen Cleary's enterprising spirits has led them to several small business opportunities over the years. Michael is a trained chef and fulfilled a life long dream of restaurant ownerships when he and Kathleen purchased the Cork 'n Hearth Restaurant in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts in 1986. This satisfied Kathleen's desire to raise their children in 'sophisticated country.' Kathleen also sold residential real estate with Piretti Real Estate in Lenox for a decade, which helped to enhance her keen sense of decor.
Scaling back from restaurant responsibility, the Clearys sold the restaurant in 1997. They became intrigued with the Lamplighter as an opportunity to own another great business in the Berkshires and continue to serve the great people who either live in or visit the beautiful area. They purchased Lamplighter in 2001 and enjoy their new friendships with the many customers who come to Lamplighter not only from the Berkshires but the surrounding counties of Litchfield (CT) and Columbia (NY) as well as many towns and cities throughout New England.
Kathleen is also the author of a heartwarming, humorous and inspirational biography about one of Boston's most legendary bartenders, "If This Is Heaven, I Am Going to be a Good Boy," the Tommy Leonard Story.

Lola Lavigne joined the Lamplighter in 2006, bringing with her years of retail experience. Her specialty has been the design and sales of custom window treatments. She also worked for several years in residential real estate.
Lola first came to the Berkshires to purchase the Deer’s Inn in Becket with her husband, Fred. Lola is working hard to become a Certified Lighting Specialist trained through the American Lighting Association.
Kathleen’s mother, Peg, also helps at the store several days per week.
A former Navy WAVE, Peg raised three children while frequently moving
due to her husband’s career with General Foods. Peg was employed as a
manager for IBM for fifteen years. She enjoyed her roles at the Cork’n
Hearth Restaurant as hostess, bartender and baker. She’s devoted a
lifetime to many volunteer causes and recently informed us she will
probably stop working when she reaches 90!!
